Conducting Your Own Inkjet Computer Printer Repair at Home

Almost anybody can do his own computer printer repair in order to save time and money on expenses. To do so, one needs to secure a proper and dependable guide or gain sufficient knowledge at least about basic printing troubleshooting.

Compared to other types of computer printers, the inkjet printer is pretty much affordable and more appropriate to use at home. It is also an affordable type of printer but can be pretty expensive on computer printer repair when the time comes. This particular type of printer is composed of a lot of parts which are equally capable of causing serious problems on the entire functionality of the equipment. Although complicated, inkjet computer printers come with manual guides in order for owners to conduct their own maintenance repairs accordingly.

Computer printer repair can be very challenging in the sense that computer errors prompted on the computer's monitor often don't specifically mentioned the root cause of the malfunction. This leaves the owner on a wild guessing game in determining the main reason why his printer doesn't work. But computer printer repair can be properly done by first working on the common problems and errors one's printer may encounter.

One common reason of an inkjet printer's malfunction is the clogged printer head which can be solved in two ways. First is by executing the self-cleaning through the aid of the computer where the printer is connected. For a more serious problem on the printer head, it should be removed first from the printer and must be wiped clean using an alcohol. Cartridges are also the man causes of a malfunctioning printer. Its computer printer repair techniques include removing the cartridges and properly placing them back, making ink refills, or simply buying new cartridges.  

Being more careful with the equipment can also help avoid an expensive computer printer repair in the future. Power cords must be secured from being too twisted as it will eventually break the wiring inside without the knowledge of the user. It is also an affordable type of printer but can be pretty expensive on computer printer repair when the time comes.

I have a great interest in computer and aircrafts, especially military aircrafts. I am planning to do computer engineering and be involved in the designing of military aircrafts (aircraft's computer).
I need to know whether the US Air Force needs computer engineers and if yes, will a computer engineer be wearing uniform and do they have military ranks ?

4 tips for laptop repair issues

When they were first introduced, laptops were often underpowered, expensive, and heavy. As technology has improved, modern laptops and notebook computers offer performance on par with today's most powerful desktop computers and are lightweight, making them very portable. With portability and all the extra features, though, problems can occur that that can leave a laptop broken.

The most common hardware fault found in a laptop involves its power source. Many people are familiar with a scenario in which the computer fails to turn on after many attempts. At first, it may seem like the battery needs to be recharged, but even plugging the computer into an electrical outlet does not seem to help. Chances are that the laptop has a bad power adapter or a bad power jack. The power jack on a laptop is susceptible to damage because of the frequency of its use. With users carelessly plugging and unplugging the AC adapter, the jack can get damaged as the solder welds wear down, preventing the laptop from receiving external power. Once the batter runs out, the laptop will not function and cannot be recharged.

Another laptop repair issue that owners face is overheating. Overheating is caused by a faulty fan that stops working or by blocking the airflow into the computer. Laptops are cooled by small fans that turn on and off, bringing in cold air from the surrounding environment to cool off the electronics inside. If the fan malfunctions and stops bringing in air, the components in the laptop like the CPU and hard drive may overheat, causing the computer to shut down intermittently. Furthermore, laptop overheating can occur if airflow into the system is blocked. One common cause of this is resting the computer on a soft surface such as a pillow when in use. To prevent this, laptops should always rest on a flat, hard surface when turned on.

Laptop PCs are built for portability, but in the course of being taken many places, they can also suffer a lot of abuse. Bumps or falls are a major contributor to laptop failure. Impacts are notorious for causing hard drive malfunctions. Sudden jolts or impacts and disturb the delicate magnetic platters or reading head in a hard drive, rendering it unreadable. When this happens, the computer will still turn on, but may begin to make clicking noises and fail to boot to the operating system. A warning message will sometimes appear on the screen telling the owner that a hard drive failure has occurred. When this happens, the drive must be replaced.

Finally, some laptop faults are software related. Many users complain about their computers being slow or acting in strange ways. Sometimes these problems are more characteristic of a software problem rather than a hardware fault. Common causes of software issues include bad drivers, incompatible software, or viruses. It's important to keep drivers and the operating system up to date, while also performing routine virus scans and disk defragmentation.

Understanding the underlying causes of laptop faults can help to diagnose the problem and remedy the solution quickly.

Viruses:

Viruses - A virus is a small piece of software that replicates itself. A virus might attach itself to a program such as a spreadsheet program. Each time the spreadsheet program runs, the virus runs, too, and it has the chance to reproduce (by attaching to other programs) or wreak havoc. E-mail viruses - An e-mail virus moves around in e-mail messages, and usually replicates itself by automatically mailing itself to dozens of people in the victim's e-mail address book. Worms - A worm is a small piece of software that uses computer networks and security holes to replicate itself. A copy of the worm scans the network for another machine that has a specific security hole. It copies itself to the new machine using the security hole, and then starts replicating from there, as well. Trojan horses - A Trojan horse is simply a computer program. The program claims to do one thing (it may claim to be a game, or a "free" piece of software) but instead does damage when you run it (it may erase your hard disk). Trojan horses have no way to replicate automatically. They are called Trojan horses because they are sometimes disguised as normal computer programs.

Spyware:

Spyware is defined as any software that covertly gathers user information through the user's Internet connection without his or her knowledge, usually for advertising purposes. Spyware applications are typically bundled as a hidden component of freeware or shareware programs that can be downloaded from the Internet; however, it should be noted that the majority of shareware and freeware applications do not come with spyware. Once installed, the spyware monitors user activity on the Internet and transmits that information in the background to someone else. Spyware can also gather information about e-mail addresses and even passwords and credit card numbers.

Spyware often causes "pop-up" advertisements to appear on the user's screen, without the user's knowledge or consent. These pop-ups can be quite a headache, and spyware itself often slows down computers to a slow crawl.

Because spyware exists as independent executable programs, they have the ability to monitor keystrokes, scan files on the hard drive, snoop other applications, such as chat programs or word processors, install other spyware programs, read cookies, change the default home page on the Web browser, consistently relaying this information back to the spyware author who will either use it for advertising/marketing purposes or sell the information to another party. When the home page of your web browser changes without your knowledge or consent, this is referred to a home-page hijacking.

Sometimes, a computer is so badly infected with viruses and spyware that the harmful software cannot be removed without completely formatting the hard drive (deleting all files) and reinstalling the operating system. Now is when you contact your computer repair store.  Ask for the computer virus repair technician.  The tech will offer a data backup solution and note which programs you had installed, and then perform a BFR (Backup, Format, Reinstall, Restore) on your system. When the virus and spyware removal is completed, ask for instructions on how to run the programs that were installed to prevent viruses and spyware from compromising your system in the future.

Computer, Printer, Fax and Typewriter Repair Perplexity-To Toss Or Not to Toss

In the computer repair, printer repair, fax repair and even typewriter repair business there is one question you hear over and over again. "Why not buy a new one rather than repairing the old one?" What people mean by this is: it's cheaper, easier or better to buy a new computer, printer, fax or even typewriter over repairing the old one. But is that really so?

Is it cheaper? Sometimes. A good technician knows where to draw the line and say, "well, the cost to repair this thing exceeds the value of the machine. Just replace it." But more often than not your machine CAN be repaired for a third or less than the value of the equipment. Most office equipment repairs are simple and can be completed in less than half an hour. Furthermore, consumers often invest in print consumables such as toner and ink, which also must be discarded with the condemned machine. For example if you have an HP Deskjet printer with two or three ink cartridges waiting in the wings, you have one or two hundred dollars worth of equipment and supplies about to go down the drain. 

Is it easier? Sometimes. But usually not! The myth is that if I buy a new machine I can just plug it in and be done with it. But the reality is that not every machine is compatible with every computer configuration. Sometimes patches must be applied or network technicians called in. Also, you've already worked out the bugs and paid your dues with your current machine. If you purchase a new computer the operating system may be completely different than to what your are accustomed. There is usually a learning curve that attends the purchase of new equipment that can frustrate and bog you down, wasting valuable time.

Is it better? Hardly ever. New machines usually offer unnecessary bells and whistles that are both confusing and superfluous. Newer machines often underperform the machines they replace. There is a trend today toward more plastic and less durability, and more features but less user friendliness. 
One further note. Machines that are over 0.00 in value, such as computers, laser printers and heavy duty all in one equipment should always be given a chance, unless that particular model is known for poor performance. Your technician can advise you as to which models have performed best in the field.
The landfill is full of defunct equipment that could have been used effectively for years, but fell prey to the myth that new is cheaper, easier and better. Save a tree (packing material) protect the environment (landfill) and spare your bank account ($ $ ) by calling your local repair shop.

Question by Rick R: Can connecting another computer to my network influence the connections of the other computers?
I had two computers both connected to a wireless router. Yesterday I connected a third computer to the network and, although the connection goes through for this new computer, one of the original computers now says "Limited or no connectivity" and cannot connect to the Internet. Is it possible that the new computer is using up too much bandwidth and is therefore preventing the other computer from accessing the Internet?

Sounds like you have an IP address conflict, I would check the addresses on the computers to make sure these are no duplicates host IPs.

I bought a brand new hp computer over a month ago. Is turning it off every night bad for the computer or should the computer be left on 24-7. I have heard both ways. Any computer techs answers would be appreciated.

If you use it ever day, then just leave on, if several days
go by between uses, turn off.
The only thing bad about running 24/7 is the heat it puts into the room.
