I have a Sony VAIO (VGN-A190) that will not boot up...?
It will not boot up past the initial part and goes to dos and states: windows could not start because file is missing or corrupt:windowssystemvgaoem.fon. You can attempt to repair file by starting windows setup using original set up cd-rom. select 'r' at first screen to repair...
The problem is I have no setup disk (windows xp home) as it came on .cab files. Do you know any way to make the computer go into dos mode so i can copy vgaoem.fon file from cd to system directory????????????????? I took the laptop to geek patrol at best buy and to circuit city.... they said they could not do anything (but then again they couldn't get the cd-drive open which i did easily). I am just trying to save $350-600 and learn something along the way. Thanks for all of your help.
